When is the best time to visit Milford Sound?

Milford Sound is spectacular year-round. Summer brings long daylight hours and lush rainforest; winter brings snow-dusted peaks and some of the clearest, stillest days of the year. And rain is a highlight rather than a setback, after heavy rainfall, hundreds of temporary waterfalls cascade down the fiord walls alongside Stirling Falls and Bowen Falls.

What should I wear?
