Milford Sound is home to fur seals, bottlenose dolphins, and Fiordland crested penguins. Sightings depend on the day and are not guaranteed, but your Nature Guide knows where to look.

What is the Discover More Cruise?

How much time do we spend on the fiord?

Up to two hours 15 minutes, more than any of our other Milford Sound cruises. The route runs the full length of the fiord to the Tasman Sea at an unhurried pace.

Is lunch included?

Yes, a picnic lunch is included, enjoyed onboard as you cruise the fiord. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options are available.

How long is the scenic flight?

Around 35–40 minutes from Milford Sound to Queenstown, depending on the flight path and conditions on the day.

What do you see from the plane?

The route crosses Fiordland National Park and the Southern Alps, glaciers, hanging valleys and alpine lakes that no road reaches. You'll recognise pieces of the morning's drive far below.

What happens if the weather stops the flight?

Flights are weather dependent. If conditions aren't suitable, you'll return to Queenstown by road instead.

How long is the full day?

Flying home shortens the day considerably. The equivalent road-return experience runs up to 13.5 hours from Queenstown; with the flight replacing most of the return leg, allow approximately 8 - 9 hours

Is this day suitable for children and older travellers?

Yes, the pace is relaxed, with easy boarding and no demanding walking. Children under seven need an approved child seat for the road journey, and the flight operator asks for passenger weights at booking.
