What is the Discover More Cruise?

The Discover More Cruise is Southern Discoveries’ longest Milford Sound cruise, spending up to two hours 15 minutes on the water. A dedicated Nature Guide shares commentary on the fiord’s wildlife, geology, and history throughout.

Where does the tour depart from?

Choose a departure from Queenstown or Te Anau. Both options follow the scenic Milford Road with photo stops along the way.

Is lunch included?

Yes. A picnic lunch is included with your experience, enjoyed during the day’s journey.

Does the Sprinter vehicle have a glass roof?

Yes. The Mercedes Sprinter features a glass roof, giving you panoramic views of the mountains and rainforest along the Milford Road — similar to our glass-roof coaches.

What wildlife might I see?

Milford Sound is home to fur seals, bottlenose dolphins, and Fiordland crested penguins. Sightings depend on the day and are not guaranteed, but your Nature Guide knows where to look.

How long is the full-day experience?

The full day runs up to approximately 13.5 hours from Queenstown, or around 9–10 hours from Te Anau, including the road journey, scenic stops, and cruise.

Is there Wi-Fi on the vehicle?

Yes. The Mercedes Sprinter vehicle offers complimentary Wi-Fi and USB/C charging points for your devices.

What should I bring?

Dress in warm layers and bring a waterproof jacket — Milford Sound is known for its changeable weather. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended for the scenic stops.
