Amisfield Bistro
A short drive from Arrowtown, Amisfield pioneered the “trust the kitchen” approach in the region. Their famous tasting menu lets the chefs decide what arrives at your table. Carrick Winery Restaurant
Out in Bannockburn, Carrick offers one of the most scenic lunch settings in the region, with a terrace overlooking the vineyard and Lake Dunstan beyond. The food is modern New Zealand: seasonal, confident and built around estate-grown ingredients. Slightly further from Queenstown, but worth the drive.
Mt Difficulty Cellar Door & Restaurant
Also in Bannockburn, Mt Difficulty serves hearty, beautifully plated bistro food alongside some of the region’s most respected pinot noir. The views back across the valley are something else. Book ahead, this one fills up.
Peregrine
Peregrine’s cellar door doesn’t run a full restaurant, but its grazing platters, wood-fired options and garden seating make it a favourite for a lighter, more relaxed lunch. The architecture alone, with that striking winged roof, makes it worth a stop.
